Ode To Ireland

top picThey were times of progression
Now this terrible recession
A country deep in depression
Yearning to vent its pent-up aggression

They want a revolution
Against those who made a contribution
To the economic dissolution
Of which they can find no solution

They have lost all hope
As they try to cope
No room for scope
And they’re doomed to mope

They draw the dole
But they’re stuck in a hole
It takes its toll
And it destroys their soul

They used to sleep
But now they weep
No future to reap
And a life is now cheap

Some keep the faith
Suppressing all hate
The country’s in a state
But all will stand at Heaven’s Gate

Ireland always feels romantic, doesn’t it? I’m jealous.
